You should take a closer look at this function

Google has obviously got its developers moving: Android 13 is already finished and is being rolled out for the first smartphones. The operating system comes with a number of useful changes that should improve everyday use of your phone. But you should know one of them before you start the update.

On Android 13: Google’s clipboard could cause problems

Google has outdone itself with Android 13 – at least on schedule. The launch of the new operating system was actually expected for September, but it is now Android 13 already available for the group’s Pixel smartphones. In terms of content, however, there are rather minor innovations in the new Android version.

Among them is a revised clipboard, the special feature of which you should know well before the update to Android 13. Because under Android 13, the clipboard is no longer a reminder list. the copied entries stored there are automatically deleted – after just one hour (source: 9to5Google).

Google sees this as a feature for additional security. Third-party apps that require access to the clipboard should do so have poorer chances of accessing important private data, that you would rather not have the applications know about. This includes passwords, contacts, e-mail addresses or your bank details.

Anyone who does a lot of online banking on their smartphone could benefit from the new function. But there is another way: I’ve often been happy find information, links or appointments that you thought you had lost on the clipboard – even hours or days after I copied them from who knows where.

This is also new in Android 13:

The step of emptying the clipboard is not new for all applications. The popular Gboard keyboard already takes a similar approach. Due to the change in Android 13, the clipboard will always be cleaned in the future, regardless of which app you use it in or which keyboard you use.

Alternative for those who don’t like organization: apps make it easier for you

If you’re like me, before moving to Android 13, you should be aware that you can no longer use the clipboard as before. Better switch to to-do lists or reminders or use apps that make your life easier and more organized.
