You really save that much with discount campaigns

MediaMarkt regularly organizes discount campaigns with often pretty good prices. But you have to look carefully to see if you’re really getting a bargain. Usually the prices are only slightly cheaper than before, although a higher discount is suggested. This is exactly why MediaMarkt has now started a transparency campaign in which the last lowest price is displayed. This way you can see if the offer is a bargain.

MediaMarkt launches VAT campaign with more transparency

A new VAT campaign is currently running at MediaMarkt until November 30, 2022. You get a 15.966 percent discount on the price shown in the shopping cart. At the same time, MediaMarkt launched a transparency campaign in order to better recognize whether the asking prices are really good offers. Each product page not only shows the price for the product, but also the lowest price in the last 30 days. An example with the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE (view at MediaMarkt):

MediaMarkt is currently charging 529 euros for the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE. With the discount in the shopping cart of 15.966 percent, you get 444.54 euros. In the last 30 days, the mobile phone has been available for 449 euros. Despite the VAT campaign, the price is only slightly lower than with another discount in the last 30 days. In a price comparison, the mobile phone is around 470 euros from reputable dealers. So all in all an attractive price.

MediaMarkt now shows the lowest price of the last 30 days for all products that take part in the VAT campaign. No one can say whether the price will fall even more. Maybe November 25, 2022 when it’s Black Friday. Since many people are currently looking at their money more closely anyway, such transparency is an important step towards more trust.

The Samsung Galaxy S21 FE is a very attractive smartphone:

Amazon showed it to MediaMarkt

The idea of transparent prices is not entirely new. A few months ago, Amazon started showing real comparison prices for promotions and no longer unrealistic discounts from the recommended retail price. MediaMarkt is following suit with the campaign. Nevertheless, you should always look at a price comparison. MediaMarkt is thus implementing the Omnibus Directive, which has been in force since May 28, 2022.
