A gas grill has many advantages
Anyone who buys a gas grill has a much more comfortable grilling experience. Compared to a charcoal grill, the Gas grill ready to use in minutes and the heat can be controlled very well. There is also no need to add charcoal if the barbecue evening is a little longer than you expected. As long as the gas bottle is full, you can grill.
Even if many think that you can only achieve true grilling pleasure with a charcoal grill, this is not true. Modern gas grills with the aroma rails and cast iron grate ensure that you can brand a nice pattern and that the taste of the grilled food comes into its own. It also doesn’t smoke as massively as you know it from the charcoal grill. An electric grill is inferior to both the gas grill and the charcoal grill. This should only be a choice if the other two options are not up for discussion at all.
You need to find the right gas grill for you
The selection of gas grills is huge. You can get a gas grill for less than 100 euros, but you can also pay more than 1,000 euros. Before you buy, you should consider the following:
- How often do I want to grill?
- What do I want to grill?
- Where do I want to grill?
Based on these parameters, you can decide whether you would rather spend a little more money to buy a high-quality gas grill that will last longer and have more features. A turbo zone is currently particularly popular and offers great added value. The size also plays a role, because you need to know whether you want to prepare small dishes or perhaps a thick roast that requires more space. Where you want to grill also plays a decisive role. Should the gas grill be portable? Do you have enough space on the balcony or terrace? These are all things that you need to clarify beforehand.
Construction of the new gas grill
Once you’ve bought a gas grill, it’s time to set it up. Be sure to follow the instructions, because with a gas grill you are handling a dangerous substance through the gas. You should pay particular attention to the instructions when connecting the gas bottle. There are special plastic keys (look at Amazon) that don’t destroy the thread of the gas cylinder. This must not be tightened with a pipe wrench.
Once you have attached the gas bottle, you should use leak detection spray (see Amazon), a gas leak detector (see Amazon) or the classic way with soapy water look for leaks. You simply disconnect all the connections and the hose and see if, with the gas bottle turned on but the burners closed, gas is escaping somewhere that you don’t want.
Before you fire up the gas grill for the first time, you should check again whether you have removed all packaging material. If that’s the case, you should Burn in the gas grill at the highest level. To do this, let it run at full power for a while until it stops smoking. Then all the fabrics are burned out and after cooling and cleaning you can start grilling.
Practical accessory for grilling
The gas grill is purchased and ready to grill, but there are still some accessories that you need. I can recommend the following accessories:
- Grill tongs, with which you can properly turn the grilled food (look at Amazon)
- Grilling gloves are also very useful if you spend a long time over the hot grill (check it out on Amazon)
- With a BBQ rack you can roast grilled food on a rack and thus produce an even better result (view at Amazon)
- You can even use a pizza stone to prepare your pizza on the gas grill (see Amazon)
- If you want to create some additional aroma, you can use a smoker box (view at Amazon)
- You can also keep an eye on your meat digitally while grilling with the meat thermometer (view at Amazon)
Don’t neglect care
Especially if you have bought a high-quality gas grill, you must not neglect the care. After each grilling process, you should let the gas grill run at full power for a few minutes to Burn out leftovers from the grill. Do you know for sure from the oven, is called pyrolysis and simply ensures that everything burns. Then you clean the gas grill and the grate. If you have a cast iron grate, you absolutely have to rub it with oil afterwards so that it doesn’t rust. You should also close the gas bottle after each grilling session.
Otherwise, you should of course not simply expose your gas grill to the weather. If you can’t store it safely, you should at least use a weatherproof cover to cover it.
