You can now swipe to refresh a website in Firefox

Mozilla makes it possible to swipe to refresh in Firefox on Android. It is also known as ‘pull-to-refresh’ in English, so you pull the window, as it were, to perform a refresh. This feature has been in the test version of Firefox on Android for a long time, but after almost three years it is now coming to the stable version of the Firefox app.

Firefox

Mozilla is certainly not progressive with it, because other web browsers on the smartphone have been using it for years. Think Chrome and Edge. Mozilla has had it itself for years: it was only in the test version of Firefox since 2020, called Firefox Nightly. The stable version of Firefox on iPhone has also had it for a while.

A matter of ‘better late than never’. You’ll find the feature within version 112.0 of Firefox, and here’s how it works exactly: you swipe down from the top of the screen when you’re on a web page in Firefox. If you find that inconvenient, because you prefer a different menu if you make this swipe from top to bottom, you can also disable the function. To do this, go to Settings -> Customize.

Other new features coming to Firefox with this update include the ability to get notified when you click on a link that goes to another app. Also, you can now play 10bit videos again and YouTube videos will still play in full screen when you change the speed.

Firefox is still in full development. For example, an option to save passwords was added half a year ago. Firefox is also still an option as the default web browser (something you often choose when setting up a phone, but which can also be adjusted later).
