You can do this with the three new shortcuts in Google Chrome

Google has announced exciting news for its Chrome browser. You can now easily search for your bookmarks and much more in the address bar of this browser. That is how it works.

Search in Google Chrome with shortcuts

Google Chrome on desktop has gotten a new search feature that helps you find what you’re looking for without much effort. You can do that with the following three shortcuts:

That is how it works

  1. Type @bookmarks in the Google Chrome address bar
  2. Click the box Search by Bookmarks
  3. Type the title of bookmark and click enter

Instead of @bookmarks for your bookmarks, you can of course also use @history for your search history, or @tabs for your open tabs.

Google indicates that @tabs is especially useful if you have dozens of tabs open and want to quickly put that one on the screen. If you already bookmarked a hotel months ago and now want to check availability, the @bookmarks shortcut might come in handy. The shortcut @history lets you quickly search your browsing history right from the address bar.

Custom Shortcuts

Google also touts its custom site shortcuts as an additional tool. This works for websites you frequently search, such as YouTube or Google Drive. So you can create your own custom site shortcuts and you do that by going to the settings of Google Chrome -> Search Engine -> Manage Search Engine and Site Search. From here you can add websites which you can then use in your address bar for a quick search.
