You can also wear these ‘normal’ clothes during your pregnancy, according to Lizet Greve and Rebecca Boektje

Anyone who thinks that they can only wear special maternity clothes during pregnancy is wrong. Rebecca Boektje and Lizet Greve are living examples of this. “I hardly had any maternity clothes, just bought from the regular collection of the C&A – just as easy.”

Which maternity wear item has been in your closet the longest, or is it still there?

Lizet: “A grey-colored oversized jacket. I bought it when I was pregnant with Vic – about six years ago, that is. Handy, because something like this never goes out of style.”
Rebecca: “A lace bralette, that’s a bra and top in one. Worn through all my pregnancies, and still do now. I should actually throw it away, but it’s so comfortable.”

How did you combine your maternity clothes with your own clothes?

Lizet: “I hardly had any maternity clothes, I mainly bought normal clothes – but one size larger. I visited all kinds of shops, although C&A was my favourite, because of an extensive collection. I did have one legging with such a ‘belly’ on it. Ha, I only wore it once.”
Rebecca: “Oh, I really needed those maternity pants, I had a huge belly. In the summer I also wore all those maxi dresses with a jacket over it. But I love oversized clothes anyway and even when I’m not pregnant I have clothing items in my closet that range from size 36 to size 42. You can go either way with it – the C&A clothing collection fits in flawlessly.”

What would you never put on your baby?

Lizet: “People who know me know that I love color. However, beige doesn’t get me very warm, whether it’s clothing or toys. Fine if you like it, but I myself have little interest in that trend.”
Rebecca: “Those T-shirts with funny texts like ‘hungry for milk’. Ha, I don’t get that.”

Plain or print, casual or sexy? That is still difficult to choose for Lizet and Rebecca, who are presented with all kinds of fashion statements. “But no tight-fitting clothes for me – then I feel like a roulade.”

clothing for mothers; tight or loose?

Rebecca: “Loose! I have fat rolls, so I feel more comfortable in that.”
Lizet: “I agree, even though I combine sleek with loose items – you can go to C&A for both. However, I don’t like being completely tied up; then I feel like a roulade.”

Casual or sexy?

Rebecca: “When I think of sexy, I think of high heels and that already makes me tired, haha.”
Lizet: “Casual. I think it’s sexy when you’re happy with what you’re wearing.”

Heels or sneakers?

Rebecca: “Sneakers, because the above story. I have kids, they have play dates, then sneakers are so practical. But: you can also feel sexy in sneakers.”
Lizet: “For me too – I am really a mother, with my answers. But I also often feel so big in heels – especially now that I haven’t fully recovered my body since pregnancy. I still feel a bit clumsy, and therefore find sneakers more comfortable.”

Sleep or party?

Rebecca: “If I’m at a party, I’ll probably shout ‘party’. But afterwards I think: if only I had chosen to sleep.”
Lizet: “Celebrate! With kids you’re always tired, so you better make it fun. Not that I visit every party; Of course you can also drink at home.”

Sports or stretched out on the couch?

Rebecca: “I exercise because otherwise I grow dense, haha. But I prefer to stretch out on the couch.”
Lizet: “Still stretched out on the couch, haha. Although I should start exercising again.”

clothing for children; unisex or a specific boy or girl outfit

Rebecca: “My children can do that all by themselves. For example, my son wears leopard print and purple clothing, while my daughter walks around in a Batman outfit.”
Lizet:
“I don’t have a preference, as long as they feel comfortable with it.”

Dark or color?

Rebecca: “Color, that makes everything cozier. Can you picture it, three children in black?”
Lizet: “Colour, that needs no explanation, right? Unless my son suddenly wants to wear a black and white outfit, but for my baby I choose everything in color anyway.”

Print or plain?

Rebecca: “A combination of that. That’s how I try to raise my children, that they don’t walk around in an outfit that’s too busy. Ha, but sometimes they make a mess of it.”
Lizet: “Wow, difficult. But if I have to choose, then one thousand percent print. For example, I love panther. And for my kids I like all the colors mixed together.”

Sweatpants or jeans?

Rebecca: “Sweatpants, because they can climb best in them. Otherwise it’s a no-go.”
Lizet: “Here too, they love that. All of us, by the way. We regularly sit on the couch with our whole family in jogging park. Blessed.”
