Xiaomi develops ultra-cool smartphones through Loop LiquidCool

Xiaomi is known for regularly coming up with new innovations, although we do not always see them immediately in the smartphone. Still, it seems that in 2022 phones will come with the new Loop Liquidcool system. This would allow Xiaomi to reach temperatures of 5 degrees lower than normal.

The Loop Liquidcool system consists of a gas section and a liquid section. The thermal energy moves one way and the liquid evaporates due to the heat on the heatsink. This then goes into valves that send liquids in a certain direction, but do not let gas through. These are the Tesla Valves mentioned by Xiaomi. This is what makes the Loop Liquidcool so special, because the gases and liquids are separate instead of together, which we have not often seen in other cooling systems.

According to Xiaomi, it ensures that the cooling is twice as effective. Moreover, the circuit can be formed in different ways, so that it can be used in various devices. As an example, Xiaomi has slightly modified a Mi Mix 4 to show that the device with its Qualcomm Snapdragon 888+ is 5 degrees cooler than the standard variant.

A cooler phone is especially useful when, for example, you request many things from the phone at the same time or when you play games. It is not without reason that special game phones are equipped with all kinds of futuristic-looking cooling systems: the more your phone has to process, the more energy it costs and the more heat is released. So it’s good to keep it cool. Coolness is also much better for your battery.

The first device that uses Loop LiquidCool is expected in the second half of 2022. Which phone that is, is still unknown. In any case, Xiaomi can use a lot of phone success: it lost its second place as the largest smartphone seller in the third quarter of 2021 to Apple, which also came with new iPhones in this quarter, not entirely coincidentally.
