Xiaomi and Realme benefit from less competition in Russia

While large smartphone manufacturers such as Samsung and Apple have withdrawn from Russia because of the war of aggression against Ukraine, Chinese manufacturers continue to do good business there. Xiaomi and Realme continue to sell their smartphones there and benefit from itthat other manufacturers stay away. In fact, Xiaomi is doing so well that the Chinese company has overtaken Apple in Europe. According to Counterpoint, while sales figures are falling in Germany and other European countries, the Russian business is making up for this fact:

Overall, the smartphone market in Europe in the third quarter of 2022 shrank by almost 8 million fewer smartphones sold. All major manufacturers such as Samsung, Apple, Oppo and others have sold fewer phones. However, Xiaomi and Realme were able to increase because of the Russian business. Xiaomi has grown by 4 percent with a market share of 23 percent. Realme was able to increase from 2 to 5 percent. with that Xiaomi just overtakes Apple as the second largest smartphone manufacturer in Europe. Apple comes to 21 percent, Samsung to 33 percent. So staying in Russia has paid off for the Chinese manufacturers.
