Xiaomi 13, 13 Pro and 13 Lite announced for Europe: with Leica camera

The new Xiaomi 13 and the Xiaomi 13 Pro have been officially announced by the Chinese manufacturer. This just happened at the Mobile World Congress. The manufacturer focuses on the camera of the devices. Collaboration with Leica. We also see the Xiaomi 13 Lite.

After we already had the announcement of the Xiaomi 13 and the Xiaomi 13 Pro for China, it is now time for the European release of the two smartphones. Xiaomi has chosen the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona to announce the new devices here. The two new models are the high-end smartphones for the year 2023. We list the details.

There are a number of similarities between the two smartphones. Both models come on the market with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset from Qualcomm. We have already seen this high-end processor in the Samsung Galaxy S23 series, the OnePlus 11 and now also in the two Xiaomi models.

The manufacturer is also clear about the update policy. Xiaomi gives both the 13 and 13 Pro three Android updates (14, 15 and 16) and five years of security updates. Buyers for the two models also receive 1 out-of-warranty repair, which does not include labor costs. This applies in the first 12 months after purchase. These are matters that are not covered by the warranty.

The camera is equipped with numerous options. For example, the improved image stabilization should ensure that you can take sharp photos under any circumstances. Furthermore, taking an always sharp photo of your moving pet is also possible, Xiaomi promises.

Xiaomi 13 Pro

Most of the focus is on the Xiaomi 13 Pro. This device has everything for the most beautiful photos. The large phone also has a large camera module. This houses a 50MP main camera, along with a 50MP telephoto lens and a 50MP wide-angle lens. The camera app is packed with features and lets you zoom 3.2x. Despite the high resolution of the telephoto lens, that is much less than, for example, the Galaxy S23 Ultra, which can zoom in 10x without loss of quality. You can also use the Leica modes, with which you can set the saturation, for example. There is a manual mode and OIS image stabilization. You can also film in 8K with the Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro.

The housing of the smartphone consists of ceramic. You can choose from white and black. The Xiaomi 13 Pro comes with a large screen of 6.73 inches. This OLED panel offers a QHD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. This is variable and if you want, you can even indicate per app in which app you want to use which refresh rate.

Furthermore, there is at least 256GB of storage space and the phone offers 12GB of RAM. We also see a 4820 mAh battery with the option of fast charging at 120W. You can also charge the smartphone 50W wirelessly.

Then there is the Xiaomi 13. This stylish device is also available in mint green. The phone has a 6.36-inch AMOLED screen with Full HD+ resolution. The triple camera consists of a 50MP lens, along with 10MP telephoto lens and 12MP wide angle. The manufacturer’s smartphone is equipped with a 4500 mAh battery and 67W fast charger. You can also charge wirelessly with 50W.

Xiaomi 13 Lite

The third model in the row is the Xiaomi 13 Lite. This phone gets a Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chipset and a 4500 mAh battery that you can quickly charge with 67W. Strangely enough, this device does run on Android 12, with MIUI 14. Xiaomi gives the smartphone a feature that we previously saw at Apple.

The 6.55-inch screen has a wider notch that is reminiscent of Apple’s Dynamic Island. This allows the interface to play. In addition, there are two front cameras, where Dynamic Framing ensures that the number of people in a photo is detected and the settings are adjusted accordingly.

Availability

The Xiaomi 13 Pro comes to the Netherlands with 12GB/256GB for an amount of 1299 euros. The Xiaomi 13 costs 999 euros and for that amount you get 8GB/256GB. You pay 499 euros for the Xiaomi 13 Lite with 8GB/128GB. The smartphones will be officially available from March 13.

With the 13 and 13 Pro, customers get a 6-month trial period for 2TB of Google One storage.
