Xiaomi 12S, 12S Pro and 12S Ultra announced: first devices with Leica

The highly anticipated Xiaomi 12S series has been officially announced today by Xiaomi. The 12S series consists of the Xiaomi 12S, the Xiaomi 12S Pro and the Xiaomi 12S Ultra. The devices are manufactured with the help of camera manufacturer Leica.

Xiaomi 12S Series Announced

A series of new smartphones have been announced by Xiaomi. We are introduced to the Xiaomi 12S series, a series that was created with the help of camera manufacturer Leica. The device that stands out the most is the Xiaomi 12S Ultra. This brings a 1-inch sensor to the device. In any case, the camera of this device stands out because of its large size.

The camera module of the device has a 50.3 megapixel main lens with a Sony sensor. Furthermore, we see a 48 megapixel periscope telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom and there is a 48MP wide-angle lens. Xiaomi, together with Leica, promises the best image quality thanks to various techniques. For example, there is HyperOIS for even better performance. Furthermore, thanks to the large sensor, photos must also be perfect in the dark, where the dynamic range is increased and absorbs more light. With the ultra-fast burst mode, you can take photos in succession at lightning speed. Of course it is also made possible to shoot in RAW and these are calibrated with Adobe Labs.

There are also different looks;

• Leica Authentic Look – strives for the natural imagery that Leica is known for. By preserving contrast of light and shadow, it adds a sense of three-dimensional depth to photos. With this, the smartphone retains the characteristic excellence of Leica’s proven light and shadow appearance.
• Leica Vibrant Look – provided with input from both Xiaomi and Leica. Combining Xiaomi’s experience in smartphone photography with Leica’s industry-leading image finishing, any photographer can capture every emotion on camera.

Thanks to various chips in the device, improvements are made around the battery and the user experience. The Xiaomi 12S Ultra offers a 4860 mAh battery with 67W charging, 50W wireless charging and 10W reverse charging. Adaptive charging prevents the battery from being overcharged.

Xiaomi 12S and 12S Pro

All three smartphones are equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset. The Ultra offers a 6.73-inch 4K AMOLED display. With the 12S we see a 6.28-inch AMOLED 120Hz screen with Full-HD+ resolution, and with the Xiaomi 12S Pro this is a 6.73-inch AMOLED screen with a Full-HD+ resolution. The Pro model has a 4600 mAh battery with 120W fast charging and 50W wireless charging. With the Xiaomi 12S we see a 4500 mAh battery with 67W fast charging and 50W wireless charging.
