Wu Kong v gameplay traileru » Vortex

Last summer we introduced you to a very ambitious project of Chinese developers from the Game Science studio. The game Black Myth: Wu Kong deals with the theme of the novel Journey to the West, which became popular in our country mainly thanks to the series adaptation of The Monkey King. We were thrilled by the first excerpts from the game, so we looked for more information that would help, among other things, to reveal how seriously the mentioned developers think about their project. The official website, albeit only in Chinese, brought the coveted details and comes to life again after six months of silence – a few hours ago the developers boasted a brand new trailer that presents a combat system and offers another portion of visually perfectly matched spectacle, which must be enjoyed not only by fans of the soulslike genre .

The developers say that they want to use the video to celebrate Chinese New Year, which begins on February 12 and will be marked by a buffalo. This is also the reason why, as Wu Kong’s enemy, he appears at the very end of the video, although it is currently impossible to estimate whether this will happen in the game. The developers point out that the shots, or rather their composition, do not correspond to the story of the game and it is therefore certain that they will take place differently or in a different sequence in the final. But even that doesn’t stop you from admiring the great details and sophistication of the fights, whether it’s a one-on-one clash or a fight against a group of enemies.

An equally impressive component is the sound system, including the soundtrack, which brightens up the memories of the Monkey King series and completes the overall atmosphere.

As we have seen before, Wu Kong wields a long stick with which he is able to cast interesting combos beyond standard attacks. These are accompanied by magic, which the main character obviously has, and everything is neatly wrapped in a number of nice effects. An important role will be played by reincarnation into other characters – probably subdued enemies – thanks to which Wu Kong will be able to face, for example, incendiary arrows sent by enemies from both sides, or take on the form of three characters at once and multiply their attack.

However, encounters with bosses remain a specialty, of which there are several in the video. In addition to the great graphic effects provided by the fourth generation of Unreal Engine, we also appreciate the design of enemies and their attacks, which in the spirit of soulslike games must first be observed for a while and then benefit from repetitive patterns and look for loopholes in defense. An equally impressive component is the sound system, including the soundtrack, which brightens the memories of the series mentioned in the introduction and completes the overall atmosphere. Unfortunately, we still don’t know when we’ll be able to play Black Myth: Wu Kong when the developers remind us again that they haven’t decided on a release date. The only clue from the official site is that it would it was not to take 500 years, but it is still true that the game on the PC and unspecified consoles will come out when the developers are satisfied.
