With navigation app Sygic for Android Auto, your phone lends a hand

The navigation app Sygic will now support route guidance with Android Auto. Your phone can serve as a dashcam while navigating in Android Auto or it can detect the speed limit on road signs. We explain how it works.

Sygic navigation with phone and Android Auto

Few car users still opt for an old-fashioned GPS device in the car, and Android Auto or a navigation app on your phone is usually used. The well-known navigation app Sygic will combine the two and your phone will support route guidance in Android Auto, it says in a press release.

While the route directions in Android Auto are displayed, your phone can serve as a dashcam while it is running. In the event of an accident, it can save images automatically. In addition, your smartphone can also recognize traffic signs with its camera and display the permitted speed on the screen.

Add extra stop

But there are not only functions that take advantage of the camera. You will also be able to use the phone screen to choose an extra stop on your route, now take a gas station. The advantage is that the passenger can quietly select a gas station from the list, while the driver can continue to read the route guidance on the infotainment system of his car.

Finally, there are even more personalization features for the Sygic app. For example, you can change the blue navigation arrow to something else. Sygic also comes with some exclusive improvements to Apple CarPlay, such as the ability to quickly navigate to an address listed in your iCalendar appointment. CarPlay also gets lane guidance, so you certainly don’t take the wrong exit on the motorway. All improvements are available from now on.
