International Children’s Book Day takes place every year on April 2, and we’ve been celebrating it since 1967. Its purpose is to draw attention to children’s books to promote a love of reading. Why is that on April 2? Because Hans Christian Andersen was born on that day (in 1805), the author of the Little Mermaid and many other fairy tales among others.

Just lay the foundation for when children get a bit older and learn to read for themselves. Many people forget that the library exists due to the existence of ebooks and online bookstores, while it is a very good way to read many books without having to pay for it (unless you turn them in too late, of course).
