Windows 11: the Start menu no longer responds, Microsoft is investigating
Several users with PCs running Windows 11 report having a bug with the Start menu: it no longer opens and does not respond to mouse clicks. The same problem exists with the taskbar. Microsoft has therefore started to investigate to see what the problem is.
The bug appears to be the result of conflicts with Barco’s ClickShare app calendar integration, an issue first documented last year. ClickShare is popular among users and IT administrators due to its capabilities for wireless conferencing. The Belgian company has updated its previous public advisory regarding this issue. She confirmed that Microsoft is now investigating the issue and has been assigned an internal tracking number (41322218).
Barco says the bug is triggered by changes made by Microsoft, as its ClickShare application only reads Outlook’s calendar via the Outlook API. To resolve this issue, Barco recommends users to disable the “Calendar integration” option in the ClickShare App settings.
While waiting for a fix from Microsoft for the Start menu bug on Windows 11, a script is offered as a temporary solution. It is available at the bottom of this page. A file accompanies it to explain that it comes to correct the problems of permissions.
