Not because they don’t have the money, but because they may not expect it to be successful anyway. This is because the Switch has such a good market position that it is almost impossible to compete.

Valve thinks differently about that. You may know this company from the online webshop Steam. Here you can buy games for your PC. It seems that this company is going to take the step and come up with a competitor for the Switch. Ars Technica bases this on multiple sources, it is said to be a project called ‘SteamPal’.

The new competitor for the Nintendo Switch should be released at the end of this year. It is probably a small PC with a controller and a touchscreen. This may mean that the device does not have the handy controllers as with the Switch. It is also expected to be larger, which will not benefit mobility.

Rumors

There have been rumors before that Valve would come out with such a device. Apparently they have not been idle and have further elaborated the project. Valve’s Gabe Newell said last year that the company is working on a Nintendo Switch competitor. He couldn’t say much about it then, but the plans now seem to be coming true.
