Will the next OnePlus be a foldable phone?

OnePlus CEO Pete Lau has teased a foldable phone. At least: he posted a photo of a hinge on Twitter that implies that it is intended for a foldable phone.

OnePlus

OnePlus and Oppo are getting closer and closer to each other. That’s also apparent from the fact that while Pete Lau is happily teasing it, Oppo is busy applying for brand names of phones that are likely to be foldable. Now, Oppo has previously released a foldable device, namely Find N, but it has now recorded even more Find types. Find NOW, Find NZ, Find N Pocket and (very special) Find N Roller. Maybe a roll-up screen?

Whether the Oppo patents have much to do with this tease from OnePlus is still unknown. In any case, OnePlus hasn’t registered any patents for a while. Precisely because the sister brands are increasingly merging (including in operating systems), we are curious what Pete Lau is referring to with his mysterious post.

Pete Lau wrote to the photos: “What do you think this is?” He probably wanted to assert himself, as three competitors presented foldable phones this week: Samsung, Xiaomi and Motorola. OnePlus itself has never made a foldable device, so if that happens it would be the first time. There are also people who say that the hinge is quite substantial and will probably be intended for a (small) tablet.

Sell smartphones

In the meantime, the question is whether we will be able to buy OnePlus and Oppo smartphones in our country at all, OnePlus says it adheres to the Dutch rules, but in Germany Nokia managed to ensure that the overall sale of OnePlus and Oppo in Germany. had to be stopped in that country.

However, it is not that far, because for now OnePlus will release its latest device OnePlus 10T in the Netherlands. Earlier this week, our review appeared, in which we saw a very cute photo of Claudia’s (and Claudia herself) dachshund, but we could also read that this device mainly goes for speed.

Would it be a good choice for OnePlus to jump into the foldable phone segment? Leave your opinion with this article.
