Why are so many manufacturers suddenly building Android tablets?

Is this finally the big breakthrough for Android tablets? After countless years in which Google developed the Android operating system primarily for smartphones, a reversal has now been made. Even before that, many manufacturers started building Android tablets. There are good reasons for that.

Many new Android tablets are coming

In recent years, the choice of Android tablets has been very limited. Samsung has always built Android tablets and Huawei also had a few in its range. Then Huawei was restricted by the US ban and Samsung was kind of left alone. Lenovo still existed, but more in the background. Xiaomi saw its chance and, after years of abstinence, built an Android tablet again with the Xiaomi Pad 5. And suddenly the curtains fell.

Finally back on the tablet market. We tried the Xiaomi Pad 5:

One manufacturer after another suddenly wants to build Android tablets. More and more such devices or announcements are coming from China in particular. Oppo, Vivo, Realme and soon OnePlus will be there. Suddenly Motorola is building an Android tablet again. The last tablet was introduced 11 years ago. And Google also seems to be interested in an Android tablet under the Pixel brand. All of this has a reason: Google is taking Android tablets seriously again.

Google has probably been in contact with the various smartphone manufacturers for a long time and has revealed behind the scenes that they want to focus more on Android tablets and folding cell phones with large displays. Android 12L was born. This is probably the main reason why so many new Android tablets are suddenly appearing. So far, manufacturers have had to laboriously adapt their Android interface for tablets. Not a big problem for Samsung and Xiaomi, but for all other manufacturers.

New Android tablets bring movement to the market

The Xiaomi Pad 5 has already shown in the test that other manufacturers can also build great Android tablets. Just like with smartphones, there simply has to be a larger selection of different devices from different manufacturers, but also the right software. After countless years, Google is finally doing this with Android 12L. now only the developers of apps and games are missing, reassessing the potential of Android tablets and offering specially adapted content. It also works on the iPad, so why not on Android tablets too?

Tried the brand new Samsung tablets:

The whole development will also ensure that Samsung has to keep improving. The Galaxy Tab S8 tablets are well presented, but the Chinese manufacturers are particularly targeting the mid-range. And Samsung would like to offer something more.
