Which operator has the 4G best covered highways and railways?

The Czech Telecommunication Office (ČTÚ) has completed an analysis of the presence of mobile 4G / LTE signal for individual motorways, train tracks and expressways. The measurement was to verify compliance with the development criteria for the coverage of these sites, The operators undertook to meet them in 2014who succeeded in the tender for the free frequencies in the 800 MHz, 1800 MHz and 2600 MHz bands. Measurements have shown that the companies have complied with their obligations in relation to the areas concerned, but the problem remains with the signal inside the rolling stock.

At the time of the measurement, all three mobile network operators met the conditions of the development criteria to cover the railway where the required level was achieved 80% coverage level. The CTU recommends solving the current signal problem in trains installation of so-called repeaters. The conditions of the development criteria were also met for the coverage of motorways and expressways. There was more than 90% coverage for all roads. You can see the basic overview of measured values by individual operators in the attached tables.

Do you think there should be at least a 4G / LTE signal in multiple places? The CTO agrees. “We are aware of that the vast majority of operators have complied with their obligations in the minimum possible way and that, given the rapid development of the telecommunications market, the earlier criteria may already be perceived as insufficient. In the 5G auction, the criteria were set more strictly, ”said Hana Továrková, Chairwoman of the CTO Council.
