Skoda plunges into the electric offensive: The Czech VW subsidiary is moving away from its target for 2030 and now wants to increase the proportion of electric cars four years earlier. Three new models are planned for this, which should already be on the roads by 2026.

Skoda sharpens: Three new electric cars are coming by 2026

With 2026 as the new target, Skoda is realigning its electric car offensive. In the next three years, the manufacturer wants to spend a lot of money on this: the investments will be increased to 5.6 billion euros. Previously, 3.1 billion euros had been expected. “We will come with you until 2026 three other electric models, others will follow“, confirms Skoda boss Klaus Zellmer to the Handelsblatt. The plans had previously been announced.

Most of the money will flow into these three electric cars. With the new year, the goals at Skoda have become more ambitious. Specifically, you are working on one Electric car for beginners with a starting price of under 25,000 euros. This is likely to be the brother of the planned ID.2 from Volkswagen, which is to have offshoots from both Skoda and Cupra.

Lease an e-car and collect an environmental bonus

VW had already announced that the originally planned 20,000 euros would not be possible due to the current price development. Instead, the possible Volksstromer should not break the 25,000 mark. At Skoda, on the other hand, they did not want to drop the 20,000 euros. The group brands must ensure that they are sufficiently differentiated from one another. That should ensure that Skoda’s version becomes cheaper than the brothers of VW and Cupra.

Skoda could claim the price advantage over VW – even for electric cars:

Skoda plans mid-size SUV with electric drive

Skoda wants to continue until 2026 compact E-SUV for the middle class to offer. Little is known about the details of the vehicle. According to the VW model, a kind of Cross Fabia with an electric drive would be conceivable. However, this is only speculation so far. Skoda, on the other hand, has already provided an extensive outlook for the new top model. The 7-seater SUV Vision 7S is also expected to grow from concept to mature production vehicle by 2026.

After all, one model has already been set for the period after 2026: Skoda’s blockbuster Octavia is set to become an electric car in the future.
