WhatsApp: the new feature to silence unwanted people
Faced with unwanted calls from unknown numbers or spam, each company reacts differently. On the iOS and Android side, drastic filtering has been implemented, blocking any suspicious call or SMS entering the mobile. On the WhatsApp side, a more moderate choice has just been made, through a recent update. If a number is not in your phonebook, the app will automatically mute all their notifications.
Enhanced confidentiality
This new functionality is integrated within a major update of WhatsApp, oriented around user privacy. In blog post, the application teams thus present two additions. First, therefore, the muting of unknown numbers, but also the addition of Privacy Verification. This guide allows the user to configure, step by step, the privacy settings best suited to their expectations.
How do I mute unknown numbers?
Muting unknown numbers is very easy to activate on WhatsApp. If the calls concerned do not ring your phone, they will still appear in the list of calls, so as not to miss an important contact that would have slipped through the cracks.
Here are the steps to enable this feature:
- From the WhatsApp app on your phone.
- Tap the three vertical dots in the top right, then tap Settings.
- Select tab Privacy.
- Navigate to the option callsat the very bottom of the menu.
- Activate the option Mute numbers.
It’s all good, your WhatsApp messenger will automatically mute all unknown calls! Do not hesitate to check your call log regularly. Indeed, the functionality still needs some optimizations and may, from time to time, mutate important or legitimate numbers.
