It seems that Xiaomi is also working on a smartphone with a foldable screen. Evan Blass, the usually reliable telecom insider, shared the first images of that device on Twitter . The housing is shrouded in darkness, but the screen itself is clearly visible. Unfolded the device has the size of a tablet, but the left and right side can be folded.

Unlike the foldable prototype from Samsung, the software seems to work well. When the screen is collapsed, the software adjusts quickly. It responds well to the touches of the user, and seems to be easy to bend. However, Xiaomi’s copy also seems to be an early prototype. Whether it is an existing smartphone, and when it appears, is still unknown.

Also leaked: Xiaomi Mi 9 specifications

A device that probably appears considerably faster is the Xiaomi Mi 9. The Mi-series consists of Xiaomi’s flagships, and the previous device in the series is almost a year old. This suggests that the Mi 9 will be unveiled within a few months now. Some specifications have already been published on the Chinese Weibo .

The Xiaomi Mi 9 has a 6.4 inch amoled screen with full HD resolution, is powered by the new Snapdragon 855 chip and has 6GB of memory and 128GB of storage. There are three cameras on the back, one of which is a depth sensor. It can measure how far you are exactly from certain objects, and adjust the camera settings accordingly. The other two lenses are a 48 megapixel camera and one 12 megapixel.

The front is a 24 megapixel camera for selfies. The fingerprint scanner is processed in the screen. In China, the entry model of the Xiaomi Mi 9 will soon be sold for 400 euros. Probably a possible Dutch price including tax is a hundred euros higher.

Since last year, Xiaomi is also active on the Dutch market. The company works together with Kruidvat and Belsimpel to sell various devices here. For example, in addition to the Mi 8 the Mi 8 Lite and Mi Mix 2 are available here. Chances are that the Mi 9 will also appear in the Netherlands in the course of 2019.
