WhatsApp on tablets tests split screen like WhatsApp Web

If you ever use WhatsApp Web, you already know it: the messenger’s split screen mode. It is now also coming to tablets, at least, if the tests go well. WABetaInfo spotted the split layout in the beta of WhatsApp for tablets.

You can already use that variant of WhatsApp in WhatsApp Web: you will then see your conversations in a row on the left, while you will see the content of the conversation that you have selected on the right. That is different from the smartphone, where you are either in the conversation in terms of content, or you see the list of the conversations you are having at that moment. That is a logical choice for a small telephone screen, but on a tablet the WhatsApp Web variant is actually much clearer: it is good that WhatsApp sees that too.

WABetaInfo indicates that this new setup can be found in beta version 2.23.5.9. However, it is not said that when you have that version, you can also see it by default. Not everyone who has access to the beta will see the same features. It is hoped that this set-up will soon come to the real WhatsApp for tablets. By the way, it can be an app: it actually works the same as WhatsApp Web, which means that by scanning a QR code you create a link with WhatsApp on your phone to be able to use WhatsApp on your tablet.

Split screen WhatsApp on tablets

The advantage of this method of WhatsApp is that your phone may even have completely failed or, so to speak, be on the other side of the country, and you can still continue texting. Furthermore, WhatsApp on tablets often has the same functionalities as on Web. The question is still what about foldable devices. They also seem to benefit from this split-screen version of WhatsApp, but those smartphones still use the smartphone version of the app.
