WhatsApp is currently testing a new feature that automatically converts images into stickers. The feature was discovered in a test version of WhatsApp for iOS.

Stickers in WhatsApp

You have been able to use WhatsApp stickers in your apps since 2018. Only since 2021 has it been possible to create WhatsApp stickers yourself or to use stickers from others in WhatsApp. There is a handy app for that. After all these years, WhatsApp is now testing a function that automatically converts pictures into stickers. The feature was discovered in a test version of WhatsApp for iOS.

As you can see in this screenshot below, the tool extracts the subject directly from an image. Then you can paste the result into a chat and WhatsApp will turn it into a gif. WhatsApp also automatically converts the image into a sticker that can then be added to your collection of stickers.

One of the benefits of this feature in WhatsApp is that you no longer have to switch between different apps or tools to create stickers. Unfortunately, the feature has only been discovered in the iOS app for now. It is not known whether WhatsApp will also bring the sticker maker to Android.
