WhatsApp is going to give little-used function a more prominent place
Push a little to use it more. WhatsApp will do this with a function that is apparently underused.
Then we are talking about the Status function. Many other apps have this in the form of Stories, for example, but it works there. Not many people use this feature within the messaging service. And that’s what the company is talking about.

That is why WhatsApp will give the Status function a prominent place, according to WABetaInfo. As a result, we cannot escape it and we will (probably) use it. In addition to their own button in the menu bar at the bottom of the app, they will also appear in your chat list in the future. At the moment they are testing this and if it proves successful we will all have to deal with it.
If one of your contacts posts a Status, you will see this immediately in the profile picture in your chat overview. Insta also has this and also lets that company fall under the parent company Meta. It can’t be a coincidence. You will then see a colored circle around the profile picture indicating that there is a new Status post. A tap on the photo ensures that you can immediately see the Status post.

You only see such a direct message from people you have recently had a conversation with. If you haven’t chatted with someone for a while, you will only find the Status in the separate screen. Not interested in someone’s Status? Then set the function to ‘mute’. As a result, they will not appear in your chat overview.
WhatsApp is now busy testing with a small group of users. It is unknown when the feature will be available to all users.
