WhatsApp: beware, your account could be banned!

For all that is phone application, there is alternative versions made by external developers who have fun fiddling with the original codes of the official or paid versions. We were already telling you a few months ago about Youtube Vanced, a version of YouTube Premium, but free! So don’t expect to find these clones prominently on the Google Play Store, but alternative stores welcome them with open arms. Except that the publishers of the original product take a dim view – and we can understand it – those who modify their babies, not to mention the loss of profit that these pirate versions represent economically. In another genre, Netflix has already warned that it will henceforth sanction those who use VPNs to bypass the zoning. The other versions of the messaging service, however, have qualities to defend.

An alternative … and better world?

WhatsApp is still THE juggernaut of messaging applications with more than 2 billion users worldwide. Still, some people use alternative versions. ” Why ? You are probably wondering. Quite simply because they sometimes offer more options. Take for example GB WhatsApp which offers you the ability to password protect your conversations or to make a group message bringing together more than 250 people, which is not the case with the original version. For its part, WhatsApp Plus allows you touse 4 accounts at the same time and many interface customization features. Most importantly, you will be able to disable voice and video calls. Which is impossible with the big brother. WhatsApp has yet decided to get angry and take the red cards out of its pocket.

The Empire Strikes Back

WhatsApp has indeed decided to sanction those who use this kind of altered versions, as she details today in its help pages. It highlights that their users mainly take risks in relation to securing discussions. This can sometimes be true, for example, with WatsApp Pink, which contains malware that will steal your data. WhatsApp therefore sets off on the hunt for third-party users who, once identified, will no longer be able to temporarily use the alternative versions and who will be kindly asked to migrate to the official one. A barely stressful countdown will invite you to do so. And if you keep using the “wrong” versions, you could simply find yourself stuck in WhatsApp. As soon as you try to access the application, this message will be displayed:

Your phone number is blocked and not allowed to use WhatsApp. Please contact support for assistance.

This one will happen without any prior warning and you will need to send a message to plead your case. There is nothing to certify that you will then be able to recover your account, even if it is difficult to see WhatsApp, which clearly shows its hegemonic bulimia with these measures, definitively rebuffing a potential new user. In a beautiful moment of great generosity, we even explain to you in the help pages, if you were using GB WhatsApp or WhatsApp Plus, how to transfer your conversations to find them as they are when you open their new home.

Smile, you are no longer banned but kindly tracked!
