The best smartwatches for iPhone users

Smartwatches: you really can’t ignore them anymore. Apple announced the first Apple Watch with great fanfare in 2014. The watch was dismissed by critics as a failed device, but nothing could be further from the truth. The Apple Watch was soon indispensable in the tech world. In the years that followed, dozens of other smartwatches from different manufacturers appeared on the market.

In 2022 you will have a wide choice when it comes to smart watches. Most smartwatches work with both Android phones and iPhones. As an iPhone user, you do not necessarily have to buy an Apple Watch. But what is actually the best smartwatch for iPhone users? We have listed a number of models for you.

1. Apple Watch Series 7: The undisputed winner

The best smartwatch for your iPhone secretly speaks for itself: that is the Apple Watch Series 7, Apple’s most recent smart watch. The Apple Watch connects seamlessly to the iPhone. That’s not very surprising, of course, since the watch was made with the iPhone in mind. The Apple Watch Series 7 therefore only works with the iPhone – you cannot connect it to an Android smartphone.

The design of the Apple Watch Series 7 is very similar to that of its predecessors, but it is not identical. For example, the watch has a larger screen with thinner edges than its predecessors, so you have about 20 percent more display. The screen glass is a lot thicker; so it can take a beating better. Finally, the display is a lot brighter than that of the Series 6.

The watch also has all kinds of advanced sensors to monitor your health. The Series 7 measures your heart rate, the SpO2 values in your blood, the number of calories you burn and your sleep rhythm. The Series 7 is available in two finishes: matt aluminum and glossy stainless steel. The stainless steel version is only available in a 4G version.

2. Apple Watch SE: costs less, can do a lot

Do you think the Apple Watch Series 7 is too expensive, but you don’t want to miss the Apple Watch experience? Then take a look at the Apple Watch SE – short for ‘Special Edition’. The SE is a mix of the Apple Watch Series 5 and Series 6. That means that it has many recent features, but also lacks a few things.

For example, the SE has no always-on screen, no SpO2 sensor, no 4G support and no fast charging function. The design is the same as that of the Series 6, so the watch still looks quite modern in 2022. The screen edges are therefore slightly less thin than the bezels of the Series 7.

The biggest advantage of the Apple Watch SE is its relatively low price. You can already buy the watch from 299 euroswhile the cheapest version of the Series 7 you costs 429 euros† Depending on the strap and the case size you choose, the price can be a bit higher.

Garmin Venu 2

Don’t like the Apple Watch, perhaps because of its square design? A lot of people prefer a circular watch. Fortunately, with the Venu 2 Garmin sells a versatile smartwatch that is inferior to the Apple Watch Series 7 in few areas.

The Garmin Venu 2 has many health functions and a sensor to measure your stress level, heart rate and the oxygen percentage in your blood. In the Garmin Connect app you can see your health data and get advice to improve your health. You can also easily keep track of your period or pregnancy on this watch.

4. Fitbit Sense: for the sports enthusiasts

Are you a port lover and don’t want to spend too much money? Then the Fitbit Sense is an excellent choice. With its square design, the watch somewhat resembles the Apple Watch. In terms of features, the smartwatch mainly focuses on your (mental) health. In this way, the Sense helps you to stress less and keeps track of your daily routine. That way the smartwatch knows when you are in optimal shape for a spicy workout
