What to expect from e-bikes in 2022
E-bikes in 2022
Cowboy is such an e-bike brand that is making great strides and bringing a lot of innovations to the market. CEO Adrien Roose sees a rosy outlook for the coming year. The past year has been packed with new products. Think of the software, where Bosch released the white label Bosch eBike Systems and their eBike Flow app. We also saw Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS) monitoring, which is used in safety applications to help drivers understand what’s behind them and in their blind spots as they ride.
Roose says that especially “smart” or connected bikes with a frictionless experience will be the trend. Especially because customers exchange other forms of transport for commuting or daily shopping by e-bike. We’ll also see more features around integrated navigation, fitness tracking, and more.
Investments
The money to develop new products will increase in 2022. In addition, the bicycles will become even more high-tech and different materials will be used to build the bicycles. Consider, for example, sustainable wood. In addition, investments in e-bike companies show no signs of slowing down. In 2021 we saw that companies such as Dance, Cowboy, VanMoof and Rad Power have all completed successful financing rounds.
Unfortunately, there are still major shortages of e-bikes and therefore they will continue into the new year. Another development that will increase in 2022 is the cycling infrastructure. This is already well in place in the Netherlands, but there is a lot of demand for roads on which people can cycle faster in a safe way.
