Manufacturers regularly release security updates for their phones. With this they ensure that your smartphone or tablet is always as safe as possible. Some phones get one every month and others once every quarter. We are curious which security update you currently have on your phone.

Are security updates important?

Without security updates, your phone will continue to work, but as with any phone that is no longer supported, there is a security risk. In the future, malicious people can abuse vulnerabilities on the phone, which are fixed in other devices. In other words, if you click on a malicious link or download a malware app, you are more likely to suffer consequences. This can vary from the leakage of personal data to the loss of money with your banking apps.

  1. Open the app Settings on your phone.
  2. At the bottom, tap System -> System Update.
  3. View your Android security update.

Are software updates mandatory?

From Wednesday 27 April it will be mandatory for Dutch sellers to provide their digital products with software and security updates. Whether it is a robot vacuum cleaner, a purchased app or a smart watch: sellers have to ensure that the product can continue to work. You can read more about this in this article.
