Amazon is revising Prime Video’s own user interface and doing everything new or just differently. The aim should be simplified operation on smart TVs and other devices. But does this always work?

Amazon Prime Video gets a fresh interface

Everything is going to be different now with Amazon Prime Video, because that Interface of the respective app on smart televisions and streaming devices such as the apple tv will change. The smartphone and tablet apps will also be adjusted in July. However, this initially only affects Android users. If you use an iPhone or iPad, you still have to be patient (source: 9to5Mac).

But what exactly is changing? There’s the navigation. Instead of the previous horizontally arranged navigation bar, Amazon uses a vertically arranged bar for the new Prime interface. You can find it on the left side of the screen. Menu items such as main screen, profile change, search, library, TV channels and titles for sale and rental are available. What is still missing in this country is the entry “Free”. This is advertising-financed and free content. But we won’t have them until the second half of the year at the earliest. In Germany, only an overview of categories should appear at this point.

The Prime banderole is finally history

Worth mentioning: The mixing of content included in the Prime subscription and paid content continues to increase. The Prime banderole, which marked the films and series contained, is now finally disappearing from the surface. This has been the case with the Fire TV devices for years, but this has not yet been realized with the Apple TV, Android TV devices, Roku devices and dozens of other smart TV devices from different manufacturers. Prime content is therefore only recognizable at second glance.

Amazon’s Prime service offers more than just a streaming flat rate:

The search has also been revised. This is intended to simplify the search experience and give users the opportunity to search for a specific title or explore different genres and collections. The update is expected in July, but as already mentioned, iOS users will have to wait a little longer. Their update is scheduled to appear later in the year. The same applies to the revised Amazon Prime Video interface via the web browser.
