In Kek Mama 6, Yolanthe Cabau talks about her two lives, countless careers and her new challenge as our newest Kek Mama columnist. For example, she talks candidly about what she does and does not share on social media and her relationship with Wesley now.

“It really doesn’t matter what I post, people always find something: I’m too glamorous or just look tired, why don’t I have any make-up on, why so much, why does Xess have long hair, would you rather have a
had a girl, or: how cool that long hair of Xess! Four years ago I sometimes lay in bed crying: why do people say this? But I now know better who I am and what I stand for; I have thicker skin.”

She therefore never responds in the media, no matter how difficult. “To my family’s chagrin, they sometimes say, ‘Yo, get up, tell me the truth!’ Still I keep my mouth shut, otherwise I’ll only poke the fire. It will eventually fade away, but yes, you have to get through it.”

Socials

She deliberately does not post some things on the socials. “A week before Christmas, Wesley came to LA to celebrate Christmas with us. A great moment for Xess: he was sitting by the Christmas tree with gifts and mom and dad. It’s great that we can do this together, but posting a picture like that with my ex? Never, that will only provoke more hassle.”

Big hero

The contact with Wesley is very good. And because Xess was only three when they broke up, he didn’t get
much of the divorce, says Yolanthe. “In addition, Wesley was not at home much at the time, so the change was not that great. Enough has happened between us, but Xess has nothing to do with that; he has never heard a bad word from me about his father and never will. His father is sweet, fun and one of the best football players ever, Wes is Xess’s great hero – and I wish them both that feeling.”
