Welsh horror Maid of Sker receives next-gen update -apkrig

Last year’s survival horror film Maid of Sker, which fascinated us especially with its setting in Wales and a reference to the true legend of Sker House, will receive a free next-gen console update and a relatively generous portion of new content at the end of May. The developers from Wales Interactive announced this in a short article on their website and added a video in which players can view the content additions, at least briefly. It is interesting that they will be purely action game modes, making full use of the nicely designed environment of an abandoned hotel.

But let’s start with the update for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series, which doesn’t work completely routinely and doesn’t just care about higher resolution or frames per second. Of course, the update goes in this direction, so we can say that you will play on PS5 and Xbox Series X in 4K resolution, but only on the second mentioned console it will be at 60 fps. If you want to double the current frame rate on the PS5, the maximum resolution is 1440p, which is quite a strange finding considering that Maid of Sker is not one of the most challenging games. We must also add performance to the Xbox Series S, where the game reaches 60 fps in only 1080p resolution and in its maximum display mode – 1440p – offers half frequency. It’s nice to note, however, that developers have been able to integrate adaptive trigger functions and haptic responses on the DualSense driver, generally increasing texture resolution and significantly speeding up loading – on the PS5 even to the level of 1 second from the previous 10-15 seconds.

The game menu then expands to the four action modes outlined in the introduction, in which you take in a whole host of weapons and face all the horrors that awaited you in the house in the basic version of the game. The first mode is The Long Night, in which you simply have to get out of the hotel, but you only have to count on a total of three lives. Ax of Kindness will then put an ax in your hands and, as in the previous one, you have only one task – to escape all the horror and get out alive. The penultimate mode – Nightmare at the Hotel – will introduce even stronger enemies and will become a great challenge also because it does not offer the possibility of any respawn. And finally, the last mode – In Darkness – literally goes out the whole game and make the action more interesting in this way.

The update will be available from May 26, and you can now play the listed modes on Steam and enjoy brand new weapons, or hunt a dozen added achievements.
