Samsung’s first rollable will be called Galaxy Z Roll

Samsung has now launched many foldable phones on the market and is now also venturing into rollable smartphones. Samsung has already submitted a name for the rollable: Samsung Galaxy Z Roll.

Samsung Galaxy Z Roll

Samsung has presented its various concepts of OLED screens during the Display Week expo, including an S Foldable, a Slidable and a Rollable. A name has now surfaced for the latter variant. LetsGoDigital discovered that Samsung applied for a very remarkable trademark with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) on May 18. It mentioned the name ‘Z Roll’ as well as the terms smartphone and S Pen.

The name Galaxy Z Roll most likely indicates a rollable device such as the LG Rollable, the OPPO X 2021 and the TCL Fold ‘n Roll. It is confusing to place these rollables in the Galaxy Z series, as this only includes foldables so far. According to LetsGoDigital, Samsung is planning this after all.

Launch Galaxy Z Roll

As always, it is not known when Samsung will announce its foldable, rollable and extendable devices. In any case, we know that the South Korean company has the knowledge in-house and also has the prototypes ready. The foldable Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3 are expected to be unveiled on August 19, along with the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE, at a Galaxy Unpacked event. The rollable Z Roll is not expected to be released until 2022.
