The connection between the OnePlus brand and the parent company OPPO continues. In June, the product, research and development teams of both brands officially merged, and a month later the company announced the merger of the OxygenOS superstructure with the ColorOS system. OnePlus has now clarified its plans for the future and how this integration with OPPO will affect fans and existing users of its smartphones. The XDA Developers portal informed about the topic.

OnePlus 2.0

Pete Lau, CEO of OnePlus and OPPO, describes the integration as the beginning of the “OnePlus 2.0” brand, which indicates that this is an important milestone for the company.

However, Lau claims that he will continue to adhere to the slogan “Never settle” and the philosophy of minimalist design. OnePlus products will continue to be developed in an effort to achieve the best possible price-performance ratio, according to Lau, this time even “with even more competitive prices”. Advanced users will also enjoy the news that the ability to unlock the bootloader device will remain available despite all changes.

However, there will be no changes in the non-traditional marketing strategy of OnePlus. Although the OnePlus design team merged with OPPO, the marketing and PR teams remain independent.

Unified ColorOS and OxygenOS 12

One of the biggest changes for users will be the unification of the OxygenOS and ColorOS extensions. OnePlus said the unified operating system combines the best of both worlds – a fast and seamless OxygenOS user experience and stability along with a host of ColorOS features. However, the name of the new system has not yet been revealed by the company.

Although the devices of both brands will run on the same superstructure in the future, according to OnePlus, they will continue to differ in terms of the user environment. The company also promised that it did not plan to run ads on the system.

We will see the unified operating system for the first time in the upcoming OnePlus flagship, which will be introduced during 2022. Existing models, returned to the OnePlus 8, will also receive the new system, but a specific update plan has not yet been announced. The partnership with Hasselblad is shortening

This year, OnePlus began working with Swedish camera manufacturer Hasselblad to jointly fine-tune the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro cameras. The company claims that this is a long-term partnership and will continue to work together to improve the cameras in the future.

The manufacturer wants to focus mainly on improving the user experience of its Camera application and also plans to invest in the development of advanced zoom, new color filters and improved image stabilization.

The OnePlus 9T will not be introduced

In addition to the changes regarding the unification with the parent company, the manufacturer has also confirmed that it will not introduce a new model from the OnePlus T series this year. In other words, previous speculations have been confirmed and the OnePlus 9T will not be released. This is the first time since 2016 that OnePlus will not introduce an updated version of its existing flagships. The XDA Developers portal informed about the news.

However, there is the OnePlus 9R model on the market, which is similar in specifications to last year’s OnePlus 8T. However, even though we will not see the T model this year, the company claims that it plans to release some smartphones in the near future. Maybe it will be a OnePlus 9RT, which says a few leaks. This model reportedly offers a 120 Hz AMOLED display, Snapdragon 870, 4,500 mAh battery with support for fast 65 W charging and a 50 MP rear sensor. Preliminary information suggests that OnePlus could introduce the device next month, specifically on October 15.
