watchOS 9: the second public beta is available

Apple is making the second public beta of watchOS 9 available for download today for the Apple Watch. It arrives three weeks after the first public beta and 24 hours after the fourth beta for developers.

Unsurprisingly, the second public beta of watchOS 9 for the Apple Watch and the fourth beta for developers are identical. However, do not expect any particular novelties in comparison with the previous version. Indeed, Apple has mainly made changes under the hood, in particular to improve performance and fix bugs. Conversely, there have been some new features on iPhone and iPad with the new beta of iOS 16.

If your device is set up to receive developer betas, open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone. Then go to My watch > General > Software update. You will be able to download the new version and then proceed with the installation.

The final version for everyone should logically be available during the month of September. The beta phase will continue throughout the month of August and we should also expect the transition to a new beta per week at some point. This also affected iOS 16, iPadOS 16, macOS Ventura and tvOS 16.
