Watch out for the new wave of fake phone calls, you will lose money

Tatra banka warns all its clients against a new wave of fake phone calls. It is a so-called vishing, an attack that uses a telephone call to obtain confidential information from a victim. At the same time, fraudsters use clever tactics to persuade victims to deny them access to valuable information.

Fake criminal

In this particular case, the attacker pretends to be a criminal police and is trying to obtain confidential information from the client regarding his account and login details for electronic banking. The fraud is highly speculated.

In order to act in a trustworthy manner, the fraudster will make connections to other persons who will introduce themselves to the client as a Tatra banka call center. In fact, there are cooperating attackers who are certainly not employees of the bank.

Neither the bank nor the police ever ask for sensitive personal and banking information in a telephone conversation. Always enter the DIALOG Live phone number into your mobile phone yourself, never let yourself be connected by other entities.

Therefore, Tatra banka strongly reminds that its clients do not provide any sensitive information over the phone to anyone. If you happen to encounter a similar fraud, notify the bank at the e-mail address issecurity@tatrabanka.sk or contact DIALOG Live immediately.

They focus on banks, fake the number

Similar telephone frauds have become more frequent in Slovakia in recent months. They usually focus on clients of banks operating in Slovakia.

Frauds even tend to be reworked to such an extent that the numbers from which calls come are displayed to victims as numbers that banks commonly use to communicate with clients. In reality, this is not true, but revealing the truth is complicated.

Increased caution is therefore entirely appropriate, and not only in the case of Tatra banka’s clients. Therefore, even with the slightest doubt, you’d better hang up and verify the information by contacting the subject on your part.
