Warning! Dangerous email is spreading through Slovakia, it can turn you on for money

We regularly draw attention to the various dangers that lie in wait on the Internet. The latest Slovaks receive suspicious emails that pretend to be from Slovenská sporiteľňa. We got one too. So let’s take a closer look at it.

Email can look trustworthy for an inexperienced user. There is the SLSP logo and the grammar has been improved, there are no errors in the text. It is the errors in the text that are the first signal that this could be a fraud. However, when we look at the sender, the information does not fit.

Slovenská sporiteľňa is listed as the sender, but why was the email sent from faktury@o2.sk?

The email also contains information that the bank will stop using the SMS key to confirm payments in the George application from September 23. However, this confirmation method must be activated first. And here comes the problem.

At the end there is a nice blue button “Activate”, which is just a click away. However, the button is not directed to the Slovenská sporiteľňa website. Although the user interface looks that way, there is even the George logo. The page also displays contacts in the lower right corner, but it is not possible to click on them.

The web address mail.theskinaddbeautytrainingacademy.com looks more like a site that should deal with a healthy lifestyle and sports. And you should definitely not enter your Georg credentials here. Because if that happens, attackers will catch them and gain control of your account.

We asked Slovenská sporiteľňa and the O2 operator, from whom the allegedly dangerous email came, for an opinion on this topic. We will update the article as soon as we receive the information.
