Want to watch Apple TV+ on your Chromecast? That’s how you do that

You’ve probably noticed that the Apple TV app is missing the cast icon for Chromecast. Still, there is a way to watch Apple TV+ movies and series via Chromecast.

Apple TV+ via Chromecast

The Apple TV+ offerings are getting more interesting and interesting. The series The Morning Show was a big hit, Ted Lasso is massively watched and Apple TV+ won an Oscar earlier this year for the movie CODA. This week, Prehistoric Planet added something new: a five-part documentary series about dinosaurs.

But while you can watch Netflix content with the push of a button via the Chromecast, it’s different with the Apple TV app. Streaming is also easy there, but with AirPlay, Apple’s streaming technology. But you need an Apple TV box for that, or a recent TV with AirPlay support.

Cast Apple TV+ to your television

Still, there is a way to watch Apple TV+ on your television, although you need a Mac or PC for that. Casting can be done there via the Google Chrome browser, where you first log in to the Apple website. Below you can read step by step how it works via a Mac:

  1. Open the Chromecast app on your Mac;
  2. Navigate to tv.apple.com;
  3. Click on ‘Sign in’ and log in with your Apple ID;
  4. Click on ‘View’ in the menu at the top and click on ‘Cast’;
  5. Click on the name of your Chromecast.

The Chromecast tab is now mirrored on your television. You work similarly with a Windows PC or laptop. In step 4, however, click on the three dots at the top right and choose ‘Cast’. Keep in mind that your computer must remain on during casting.

Other ways

Casting is not possible with the Chrome app in iOS or iPadOS. There are other ways to watch Apple TV+ on your television:

  • Through the smart TV. Most recent TVs have an Apple TV app.
  • Through the Playstation. The PS4 and PS5 have an Apple TV app.
  • Through the Xbox. You can install the Apple TV app on an Xbox One, Xbox Series X, or Xbox Series S.
  • With a cable. Connect your iPhone, iPad or Mac to the television via an adapter and HDMI cable.
  • With an Apple TV. Third generation and newer have an Apple TV app.
  • Via AirPlay. If your television supports AirPlay, you can stream the content from the TV app on your iPhone.
