1. Memorize it

The smartest, but also tricky task. Memorize the secret combination. This is easier said than done. These are characters in a long combination of numbers and letters. Not as easy as remembering your pin code. However, teach yourself and take your time. It’s a very safe way, because no one else knows the combination. At the same time, you cannot use this as the only method. Because what if you have to deal with amnesia or somehow forget the combination..

2. Write down the private key to your crypto wallet

Often people advise against writing this key down. Logical, because if you leave this lying around somewhere, the secret combination will be on the street. If you are smart, you can simply write the private key to your crypto wallet on a piece of paper. Above it, write something that has absolutely nothing to do with your wallet. Then keep the piece of paper in a place where no one is really looking in your house except you. Think of keeping the piece of paper in a cookie tin in the crawl space of the house, for example.

3. Cloud storage

Not offline, but store your key online. That is also possible. Do this in the safest way possible. Cloud storage with encryption is the minimum you should look at. You can then combine this with tip one.

Do not

Then we have some tips for you what you absolutely should not do. What you should not do is only keep the key on your computer. Your computer should be connected to the internet. And therefore vulnerable to a hack. In the worst case, your computer can also give up the ghost. And then you can no longer access the private key for your crypto wallet. What you should also not do is save the code on your smartphone. The last tip is to tell someone else about the combination. No matter how much you trust that person. It is your wallet and therefore your responsibility. Don’t put that on someone else, because that will lead to nagging.
