Download a photo from Instagram: 2 ways
Do you want to quickly download a specific photo? The easiest way is to do this through a service like KeepPost.
These kinds of websites work very simply: simply copy the link of the Instagram photo you want to download to KeepPost, and press the download button. Then choose where you want to save the snapshot on your iPhone, iPad or Mac and you can view the picture.
Such services not only allow you to download your own Insta snaps, but also those of others. The downside is that sites like KeepPost can only download one photo at a time. If you want to save multiple snapshots, this will take a very long time.

Download your own Insta photos
Do you want to download not one, but several Instagram photos? This is best arranged via the app itself. You can request an overview of all data shared by you on the platform. That is how it works:
- Open the Instagram app on your iPhone;
- Go to your profile page by pressing the button at the bottom right;
- Tap on the three horizontal lines at the top right of the screen and choose ‘Settings’;
- Select ‘Security’ and now press ‘Download data’;
- Confirm your choice by pressing the blue button (‘Request download’).
You have now sent Instagram a request to send all your personal information. So this is not only your photos, but also, for example, your videos, personal data and Reels. Downloading Instagram data unfortunately can take up to 48 hours.
Have you already deleted the Insta app from your iPhone? Then you can download your Instagram photos from the app’s website. Go to Instagram.com, log in and go to your profile’s Settings. You can then choose to download your data under the heading ‘Security’.
Is Downloading Instagram Photos Legal?
That is of course the big question. There is no option to download photos in the Instagram app, so it is not the intention at all.
It is therefore best to ask permission from the rightful owner when you want to download her/his photo. This may save you a lot of hassle (and possible costs). There is of course nothing wrong with saving your own creations.
