VPN connection to India will soon be a thing of the past

Do you get your VPN connection from India a lot? Then prepare to find another country.

Personal data on the internet is very sensitive. A connection knows everything about you in no time. That is why there is now so much to do around cookies and that kind of nonsense: websites with cookies simply know a lot of personal information about you. For some (understandably) a scary thought.

VPN

There is a solution with a VPN. A Virtual Private Network uses redirects through servers around the world to protect your personal data. This way, a website or service receives all the data they need without you throwing your personal data out on the street. Companies like NordVPN and many others have been making waves with their services for a while now.

VPN banned in India

Another advantage of a VPN is that you can pretend that you are in any country where a VPN server is offered. For example, you can use an American network to watch American movies and series on Netflix. We don’t know the perks of setting up a VPN in India, but that will soon be a thing of the past. NordVPN is shutting down their servers in India, following on from competitors ExpressVPN and SurfShark.

Legislation

This is because India is setting up new laws around the VPN. To put it simply: India now requires the use of personal data for VPNs. In other words, the main reason for using a VPN, to avoid personal data, is now banned. Then it all makes no sense. To ensure the security of personal data when using their app, according to NordVPN, the company is therefore shutting down their servers in India. From June 26 you will no longer be able to connect to Indian VPNs.

Fortunately, NordVPN will keep you informed and you will notice when the servers close. (via TechCrunch)
