Anyone who purchases traditional cable TV from Vodafone can benefit from additional advantages next year: the Düsseldorf-based communications group has teamed up with RTL Germany to add several channels to the program at the same time. But that’s not all.

Vodafone increases: GigaTV becomes more attractive for RTL fans

For Vodafone customers, there are innovations in everything to do with the cable television offering: Thanks to closer cooperation with the RTL Deutschland group of broadcasters, uniform channels in HD quality across Germany will be shown on TV sets. The flagship, however, is the extensive integration of the streaming service TVNow Premium in Vodafone’s GigaTV offer (Source: Vodafone).

In February RTL had announced that TVNow was about to end – at least under this name. However, the streaming service will continue as RTL + and will be integrated into the GigaTV platform as an app from 2022. It should also be possible to receive more of the popular linear RTL content via GigaTV. Top formats like Let’s Dance or GZSZ are then available up to 30 days after it has actually been broadcast, it is still available in the GigaTV media library.

In the future, the RTL Group’s pay-TV and free-TV channels will also be Uniformly offered nationwide via Vodafone. In addition to the main channel RTL HD, this also includes VOX HD and RTL II HD, and paid channels include RTL Living HD and GEO Television HD. The cable provider has been working for some time on, among other things, aligning the former Unity Media areas with the rest of Germany and recently removed some stations from the program.

However, the plans of Vodafone and RTL bring at least one downer. Because the integration of TVNow / RTL + in GigaTV does not go as far as a customer would like. If you want to see the premium offer of the streaming service, still has to pay extra.
