Vivat Slovakia is a full-fledged double title, says Roman Lipka -apkrig
At Vortex, we have already attended the new Slovak open world city event Vivat Slovakia several times. The title, set in Bratislava, takes players into the wild 1990s, attracts modern history, dubbing, weapons, chases and follows the game Vivat Sloboda from 2019. Team Vivat is openly inspired by the GTA and Mafia series and promises a dark story in which the top government they shake hands with the underworld. The story missions themselves are supposed to be inspired by real events. The main character is a man in his thirties who works for the secret service. He pretends to be a taxi driver, which allows him to move freely around the city and monitor the people in the Slovak Information Service.
We were very interested in the title, so we asked the authors for an interview. “It’s a complete action adventure, or city event, with everything that goes with it. Story missions, chases, shooters. But everything is in a thematically moderate regime, as we do not try to turn the protagonist into a mass murderer, even though as a secret service employee he is close to the mafia, ”producer Roman Lipka told us. In addition, we have new exclusive screenshots that show you the main character for the first time. Roman also first indicated a possible release date.
Will we meet any real figures of modern history?
It depends on what modern history is for the player, but if you’re a 90s kid, you’ll know almost every character. Some people are, for obvious reasons, forced into one, others are completely preserved. You can win very well with names, Vladimír Šermiar or Vladimír Močiar, for example. At the same time, it is good to know that no one will be politically active in the Czech Republic or Slovakia. Most of the characters are already dead or have completely withdrawn from public life. Maybe just so they don’t belong in the first group.
How big should the world be and how long is the whole game?
The game map in Vivat Slovakia contains a scaled-down and transformed Bratislava for gaming needs. We make sure that the familiar objects are on the right side, but no one can wait for a 1: 1 street. Most of all, it wouldn’t even be fun, just take it when you’re driving across the SNP Bridge. The players would kill us if they had to move under the UFO for a few minutes just to cross from Petržalka to the Old Town. My boyfriend reassures me that size doesn’t matter, but it is clear to us that it does. You will run on an area of 10 square kilometers. For comparison, for example, Vice City is less than 6 km away and Mafia 2 is also about 10. Can it be the size or?
In addition to a break from the difficult story, we will of course try to fill the city with secondary content so that there is something to do at least in Bratislava.
Aren’t you afraid of potentially controversial issues related to the period?
People love controversy, don’t they? The events that take place in Vivat Slovakia are all sourceable. We draw on interviews, documents and books. We also have several consultants who make a living in the 1990s. For example, Milan Žitný himself, who also dubs the central figure in our country, appeared in the largest documents (Mafia and Twilight Bossov) about the mafia on RTVS television. We also communicate with people who deal with contemporary architecture. Some former members of the underworld also told us different stories, ie… only what they obviously heard somewhere…
Will Vivat Slovakia also offer side missions and sandbox content?
In the game, your coverage is the taxi profession. So between missions, you can safely take an order from a nice aunt from the dispatch center, who shouts into the radio of every taxi: “Can anyone from Ružinov under the castle? I REPEAT, CAN ANYONE UNDER THE CASTLE? !! ”. You don’t have this appetizer in the Czech Republic anymore, do you? 😂 In addition to a break from the difficult story, we will of course try to fill the city with secondary content so that there is something to do at least in Bratislava, but we are currently in the process of developing that we have something to do with the story days themselves.
Will we move exclusively in the streets of Bratislava?
No:).
How do you handle licensed content, such as car brands?
Good question. There is no licensed content in the game to date. The cars are all from the workshop of the incredibly skilful car driver Ivan Mitter, who sharpens the knowledge about cars to the point that he can imitate period cars or buses to resemble the originals so much that the player thinks they really looked like that. Team Vivat already lives in such a Mandela effect that a really old BMW can surprise us that it doesn’t look exactly like in the game. Look forward to it. And of course the green Pitch is already starting to be an icon.
Isn’t open world action too big a bite for a starting team?
Is an. But others in front of us have done it, others can do it after us, so we believe that we can do it too. In addition to the story consultants of the project guarantor, the legend of the Slovak gaming industry Marián Ferka. If we were to step out of the path of prepared development steps, we would be stuck in our necks right away. But we take it honestly. We took responsibility for the best possible theme and the most interesting genre of the games ever. At the same time we go to the market with the skin, we do not hide behind nicknames or avatars. In short, it has to work out, we’re going all-in. 🎲
With the release date, we want to catch the 30th anniversary of our republics.
How many people are currently working on Vivat Slovakia?
Within the team, we are the majority in Bratislava, then we move to the center of Slovakia to Zvolen, but we have to turn it back two members to Prague. It is a dynamic number of people, but the basic number is 9. In addition to this core team, which can be looked at vivatslovakia.sk, we have the so-called collaborators everywhere possible. You, dear Vortex reader, can also join them. Although we do not sit in one room, thanks to the virtual office, we also significantly save budget. So that our boys and babies don’t watch naked Verešová all day, we stream screens on Discord. Operatively, we can help each other with problems or find invisible mistakes due to the author’s blindness. It’s also a great motivation to do because you don’t want to be a coc when you see others making fun.
Will it be a full-fledged commercial project?
Clearly. We are aiming for a full-fledged double title so that we have something to be proud of. PC players will soon have the opportunity to save the full amount of the game if they help us crowdfunding Vivat Slovakia to complete. Many enthusiasts recommend this route and when we see successfully supported Czech game projects, it gives us hope that Czechs and Slovaks are interested in local games. Therefore, if it is reasonably set financially, which is very important in our country. As the product is closely focused on our two republics, we will not buy Benz from sales. At least we ride with him virtually.
What platforms do you target and when could the game come out?
Vivat Slovakia is primarily developed on a PC and it is guaranteed to work on this platform. With the release date, we want to catch the 30th anniversary of our republics.
