US cracks down on ban

Things are getting tighter for TikTok in the USA: many states are currently taking action when it comes to banning the popular video app. TikTok should at least disappear from mobile phones used for work, but the ban could be extended quickly.

Even if TikTok is extremely popular in the USA and many other countries, the app from the Chinese operator ByteDance is doing well more and more on the collar. New regulations in many US states ensure that the app disappears, at least from government employees’ service smartphones. But that could only be the beginning.

Reportedly, TikTok is now Banned on work cell phones in 19 of the 50 US states. Most recently, a ban was launched in Louisiana and West Virginia. Things are looking bad for the video app, especially in states where Republicans hold a majority. In the meantime, one can already speak of a campaign. The aim of this is to ban TikTok entirely from the USA.

The official justification states that the Chinese app security concerns in the United States. TikTok provider ByteDance can access data from millions of US users from China, according to one of the allegations. TikTok, on the other hand, weighs it down and speaks of “robust cyber security controls” that are monitored by a team in the USA.

In a statement, ByteDance said it was disappointed that “so many US states are jumping on the political bandwagon.” The actions taken would Based on “unfounded untruths” about TikTok and contribute nothing to U.S. national security (source: Reuters).
