Union push in Apple Stores: Apple’s threats become clearer

Many Apple Store experiencing an unprecedented “trade union push”. This is the case in Apple Stores in Maryland, New York City, Atlanta and Maryland, where votes were sometimes even held for the constitution of an internal union. Each time, a majority of employees voted for the creation of a union movement, a situation that did not escape Apple.

In this case, the Cupertino company is far from being progressive and even camped fiercely on an anti-union line. The Cupertino company has sent a memo to the employees of the Apple Stores concerned, a memo whose content is enough to raise eyebrows.

Apple claims that the creation of a union will harm the organization of work, prevent more direct relations between employees and their managers, and reduce career flexibility. More threatening this time, Apple explains that the unionization of employees will “reduce opportunities” as well as the“pay attention to merit”, and that this will have negative repercussions on career promotions, the allocation of days off, etc. This is a funny way of convincing people not to join a union… which is very likely to have the opposite effect to that expected.
