6 x the best climbing forests to visit this weekend

The weather will be beautiful this weekend: the perfect opportunity for an adventurous outing with the kids. A climbing forest is a great activity and you can sit nice and cool in the shade between the treetops. Here you will find an overview of the best climbing forests in the Netherlands.

1. Climbing forest Gooi-Eemland – Lage Vuursche

Klimbos Gooi-Eemland is located in Lage Vuursche, in the center of the country. For children over 1.20 meters there are 4 routes in this forest. Are your kids taller than 1.40 meters? Then they can climb 10 routes and they are sweet for about three hours. The climbing park is open on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

There is a gray route for the real daredevils: there is a free fall in this route. Do you dare?

2. Fun Forest Amsterdam – Amsterdam

This park is part of a larger organization with multiple climbing parks throughout the country. You climb and clamber over rope ladders, walkways and cables through the treetops.

You can already go out in this climbing forest if you are 1.10 meters tall.

3. AvaTarZ Nature Park – Deurningen

In the east of the country you will find this beautiful climbing park in Deurningen. You go on an adventure in nature, because on the way you come across beautiful views. It is the largest climbing park in the Netherlands, with 110 obstacles and 15 ziplines. And did you climb out? Then you can of course stay for a drink.

4. Fun Forest Venlo-Tegelen – Venlo

While climbing in this park you will encounter various obstacles and hurdles. You have to use a Tarzan sling and come across a snowboard. The extreme courses in this park go up to 15 meters in height. Not a good idea if you’re afraid of heights so…

5. Fundustry Viking Adventures – Ewijk

This climbing park is an abandoned Viking village. So you not only come to climb, but you immediately imagine yourself in another world. In addition to climbing, you can also do a treasure hunt, build rafts, follow workshops or walk the barefoot path. So plenty of fun to do! Note: this park is for children from 1.30 meters.

6. Climbing forest Brabantse Wal – Bergen op Zoom

A real zip line route, large nets and a free fall: go on an adventure in the Brabantse Bos. You decide how high you dare to go. There is also a gray route here, if you really dare to do anything. For the little ones there are plenty of lower routes to climb. Extra fun: there is no maximum age, so grandma and grandpa can come along!

7. Aventoer amusement park – Burgum

The amusement park Aventoer is located in the Frisian town of Burgum. In this park you will find the longest zip line in the Netherlands and many more cool courses. Ready to climb? There are many other activities such as Glow in the dark golf, LED bowling and laser tag. So you can even turn it into a full-day program.

to watch out

  • Check well in advance how tall your children are to avoid disappointment on arrival. Most climbing parks are accessible to children from 6 years old and they must be at least 1.20 meters high, but always check the site of the relevant park.
  • Wear comfortable clothes and good sturdy shoes. You are not allowed to climb with sandals.
  • You can often climb with your children, but your children are also allowed to go out alone. Don’t forget to score your own ticket if you climb along!
