Cyberpunk 2077: Steam winner despite criticism
In the meantime, more than a year has passed since the role-playing game hope Cyberpunk 2077 appeared and promptly the Shattered the dreams of many fans. However, the developer CD Projekt Red was not idle in 2021. The game is now even rated “largely positive” on Steam. Also in great annual review of the video game platform Cyberpunk 2077 is the winner.
Measured in terms of total sales, the role-playing game missed the platinum and gold category, but at least landed in one of the silver places. Since Cyberpunk 2077 only has to be bought once and does not yet have any DLCs, it is also difficult to survive against games like Grand Theft Auto 5 or Counter Strike Global Offensive. Cyberpunk 2077 triumphs for it in the list of games with the highest numbers of players. More than 200,000 players visited Night City at the same time.
Great success for Battlefield 2042
Another big Steam winner of 2021 is Battlefield 2042. In contrast to Cyberpunk 2077, however, the fans are here still really angry. Due to many bugs and other problems, the game is currently rated “mostly negative” on Steam. However, this seems to have had little effect on financial success. Based on total sales, Battlefield 2042 is platinum.
The number of players is also impressive. The shooter has reached 100,000 simultaneous players here. The page SteamDB reveals, however, that the numbers have been falling for some time. About a month after the release, only about 20,000 players compete against each other. Games like Rust, Apex Legends and Dota 2, on the other hand, could reach more than 200,000 simultaneous players, even though they are much older.
Steam shows which games are on the platform this year were particularly successful. Cyberpunk 2077 and Battlefield 2042 are also two games among the winners that have received a lot of criticism from fans.
