TikTok is the new role model

After Meta and Google, Amazon is now also looking for ways to short TikTok style videos to be accommodated on the platform. Internal tests are already underway, as employees have revealed.

Amazon plans accordingly under the name “Inspire” a kind of shopping feed, which shows videos in the mobile app in addition to images. Customers also have the option of liking content or sharing it with others. A purchase of the products shown is of course also possible.

Amazon has not yet officially confirmed the new feature. A small detail could be an indication that the group has big plans for “Inspire”. Instead of hiding the shopping videos somewhere in the app, they are currently being tested prominently with its own symbol found in the bottom menu bar of the app. A diamond icon indicates the shopping feed (source: Wall Street Journal).

According to Watchful Technologies’ Daniel Buchuk, who first reported on Inspire, the feature may be Amazon’s way gain a foothold in social media. A “new social experience” could make the app more interesting for a younger audience. The group’s existing influencer program could also be further expanded with the shopping feed.
