TikTok gets into trouble with a 12-year-old

It is the problem of many parents. Actually, social media is for kids 13 and older. Children under that age can be found on the social networks have an account that is managed by a parent. At least, that’s how it is often described on paper. Still, a lot goes wrong here and a 12-year-old girl from England is done with it.

Currently, research is being conducted into whether the 12-year-old girl can indeed go to court. A court has already stated that if there are legal grounds, the child may litigate anonymously. The child believes that TikTok has violated British and European protection rules.
Among other things, it is stated in the TikTok conditions that children under the age of 13 are not welcome on the platform. Still, the child thinks that this rule is not enough to protect other children. And she’s talking about children under the age of 16 in particular. She states that TikTok collects data from the teens and uses the algorithm to make the children addicted to the app. The 12-year-old hopes that her eventual case will lead to better protective measures for this group. She also hopes that the company will delete collected data from children.
