Control Center is the screen you see when you swipe down from the top right edge of the screen. On an iPhone with Touch ID, swipe up from the bottom of the screen. This control panel also has a few useful (hidden) functions that we show you in these iPhone tips.

1. Hidden control panel functions

When you have the control panel open, all you have to do is tap on one of the icons to open the corresponding app or setting. But you can do more. By holding down your finger on an icon, many more options appear.

For example, you will see a slider with the flashlight that you can use to adjust the brightness of the light. And at the camera you can immediately take a selfie (by choosing ‘Take selfie’). Almost all options on the Control Panel have a second hidden function in this way.

2. Customize control panel

By default, many different programs can be found on the control panel. You probably don’t use all the programs, so it’s nice that you can adjust the control panel to your liking. In this second tip of our iPhone tips, we show you how.

  1. Tap “Settings” and scroll down;
  2. Choose the option ‘Control panel’;
  3. Tap the red dot next to an app and ‘Delete’ to remove the controller from the control panel;
  4. To add an app, tap the green dot under ‘More controls’.

3. Get rid of it: switch off the control panel

Don’t like the control panel at all? Unfortunately, you can’t turn it off completely. However, it is possible to disable the control panel in apps and on your lock screen. You can read how to do that below.

Turn off Control Center on your iPhone’s lock screen.

  • Tap “Settings > Face ID & Passcode”;
  • Enter your iPhone’s passcode;
  • Scroll down to ‘Access when locked’;
  • Turn off the button at ‘Control panel’ below.

Disable control panel in apps

  • Tap on ‘Settings > Control panel’;
  • Set the slider next to ‘Access from apps’ to off.
