How to hide Instagram likes
The update has been in the air for a while, but has now officially been released. It is now possible to hide the number of likes on Instagram. As a result, others cannot see how many people have given your photo or video a heart.
If you turn this option on, you will no longer see how many likes others have received on Instagram. Below we explain how to set this up: you can also ‘just’ leave the situation as it was.
How to hide likes on Instagram:
- Download the latest version of Instagram on your iPhone;
- Open Instagram and go to the settings (tap your profile icon at the bottom right and then the three dashes at the top right);
- Choose ‘Privacy’, ‘Messages’ and slide the switch at ‘Hide Likes and Views’;
Then the likes on Instagram are hidden. Others only see with your messages whether a photo or video has received hearts. In that case it says “Liked by [vriend] and others”.
Hide number of likes per post
If you enable the option, you will no longer see how many likes others have received. If you think this is a bit too drastic, you can also arrange the option by individual mail. In that case you can hide the number of likes with one photo, and not with the other:
- Go to the post for which you want to hide the number of likes;
- Tap the three dots;
- Choose ‘Hide number of likes’.
The Instagram update is rolling out gradually. Don’t see the option in the settings menu yet? Then you have to be patient: it will be your turn.
